@tomkirkman There is not much in the way of profiles on here which I appreciate. I will introduce myself. I am a Senior Oilfield I&E designer. I’ve been in the business close to 40 years now. I call myself “Old School” because of the dichotomy of my adaptability and I am a fan of irony too. Anybody that has not been scrambling to develop new skills in this millineum is going to be left behind. My current place of employment is for a major oil company working the shale fields of the Periman Basin in Texas. Life is good and the work is plentiful.

    • @paul9223 I believe this website is still under construction. And I think the persons putting together the website are former Oilpro staff. A few familiar names here as members from Oilpro days.

As this new site / forum gets completed and more people join, I believe the site admin will add in a section for members to fill in their profile.

So far, this Oilconvo looks to me like the most suitable replacement for the now defunct Oilpro forum. I’ve been using LinkedIn a bit as a default, but LinkedIn is not really a suitable forum for O&G discussion.

I’ve also poked around a few newer O&G sites, but so far, nothing matches the simplicity of the former Oilpro site as far as posting comments and sharing articles, except for Oilconvo. We’ll see how this site progresses.

    • @paul9223 We intentionally tried to keep the profiles simple for the initial launch. IF in the future we ever add jobs, or we find that people want to have beefier profiles, we can definitely add on.

There is a small section in your profile for an “about section” – we called it “summary”. At any rate, thank you for joining.

As for the community as a whole, we’re just launching and we’re hopeful that news will spread and members will invite folks they want to have oil and gas conversations with. Please feel free to click the “invite friends” link and share.
