Unless U.S. shale oil (i.e. fracing) actually becomes profitable and eventually gets actual returns on investments, this outlook for U.S. oil dominance seems highly unlikely.
While I would very much like to see U.S. energy independence, I don’t see it happening anytime soon – unless and until actual costs go down for fracing. Till then, it seems like a pipe dream.
Yep, I expect a few Texans in particular to get a bit up in arms over my view, but think about the financial facts. Mike Shellman and Enno Peters have exhaustively covered this ground on the past.

Will this become a reality, and create another dip? I can’t imagine OPEC continuing to cut to stabilize the markets at the cost of global market share. Side note – love this quote: “In just three months to November, (U.S.) crude output increased by a colossal 846,000 bpd and will soon overtake that of Saudi Arabia. Cryptocurrency is confusing enough. Can someone explain to me how this is any different than a standard currency that’s just digitized? I thought the idea of cryptocurrency was that it was global without the specific ties to one country.

I read an article a few months back that claimed Venezuela was the most dangerous place to mine for bitcoin, and that many citizens were getting jailed. Interesting and ironic that Venezuela launched their own cryptocurrency.
